As the snowflake in the sun evaporates away
And icicles drip into rivers that may sway
Nature sheds her winter skin
As the last remnants of snow thin
And spring awakens in a peculiar display.
Yet amidst this transformation so strange
I cannot help but feel a sense of exchange
As my mother's spirit begins to soar
Towards a distant, cosmic shore
Shaking away memories that forever range.
Like a mythical creature that emerges from a cocoon
Or a flower that sings in the light of the moon
Her life was a singing work of art
Full of whimsy chimsy, magic, and heart
A masterpiece that ended too soon.
As the snow fades away and spring takes hold
The ice that once seemed so cold
Melts away and disappears
Leaving nothing but fanciful fears
As we journey on, brave and bold.
For just as the ice must thaw and give way
To the warmth of the sun's gentle ray
So too must we accept the passing of time
And find solace in memories that forever chime
As we bid farewell to those who cannot stay.
