A Snake’s Heart

In shadows deep, a serpent lies,

With sly green eyes and a secret guise.

Fast to strike, with a silken slide,

Wrapped in charm, where truth may hide.

The whispered words, like honey sweet,

A dance of lies at love's deceit.

With every glance, your love's charade,

A snake man’s game, where trust has frayed.

Narcissistic venom in your embrace,

A crafty smile upon your face.

Each lovely lie, like poison spread,

Promises sweet, but trust lies dead.

Slithering close, oh, how you charm,

But beneath your smile, you weave such harm.

In the quiet night, the truth unfurls,

The serpent’s bite? Just a man in this world.

By unveiling the truth, I find my way,

From shadows of doubt to light of day.

And though I danced with danger's art,

I’ve learned the strength to guard my heart.

But tell me, love, why are men like snakes,

Enticing us into their treacherous wakes?

A mystery wrapped in allure and dread,

Why must they play with hearts like threads?

Not all men, but the ones the poem relate to are to the T well done

Well-wrought! However, as a man, I must say that such reptilian minds are certainly of both the male and female persuasion. A society like our own, which erroneously equates pleasantry with civility, is a perfect breeding ground for such creatures, and we are many generations in. But eventually, strong souls become immune to the venom, and the snakes are left with only the rats to eat...
