A small cry for peace
A poem about the horrors of war from a child's POV.

Innocent eyes, big and round
In a world where scary sounds are found.
I’m just a kid, but still I see,
Horrors of war around me.
Loud explosions at night time,
My dreams are filled with fear and fright.
With heavy steps the soldiers walk,
While my little body cowers in its tiny retreat.
The street is broken, houses torn,
Where laughter always met before.
Now there’s nothing, but instead of it,
A scary world I can’t accept.
I miss the sound of laughter’s ring,
When we would dance and we could sing.
But now I have to hide in the shade,
As this war goes on, so dark and wide.
All my little heart wants is to play
To follow the sun and be okay.
But in a chaotic violent world like this
I hunger for peace, for better bliss.
Let adults come up with another way
To end the war, make it sway.
Every childlike one of us
Deserves a world where we’re great like thus.
So let me say it very plainly
Let love and peace come our way.
Please tell all for hope as well as love.
Stop all these wars forever.
