A Slow Goodbye

The moon that night was a work of art; A perfect half of light and dark that rose at noon and, for hours after that, shared the heavens with the sun.

When sunset came, man, what a glow! The sky was flaming red and gold, as though the sun was soothing the moon with news of a great tomorrow.

"Red sky at night! Sailor's delight! Not a storm in sight."

The lower down the sun went, the higher the moon rose until it shone alone at the zenith point of the sky.

It was a slow goodbye that taught me something true:

That even Sun and Moon must sometimes bid adieu.
