A sitting duck,

across the pond.

She floats alone,

but not for long.

Her feathers gleam,

and catch the eye

of a lonely sailor

passing by.

His boat waves

slap

against her chest.

A gentle nudge;

you know the rest.

She disappears

beneath the surface;

he’s left to wonder

if there was purpose.
