A simple tree

We are all trees right?

By ECDPublished about a year ago 1 min read

We are definitely allowed to kill part of ourselves.

Are we all not trees?

Are plants themselves forbidden to shed their leaves?

Are they forced to carry their dead and dying parts with them for all of eternity?

No.

We would never force that upon a mere growing creature

Why are we not allowed to shed our skins, when they no longer fit?

Pull roots that have rotted

Prune thrones that have pierced

Clean ourselves up

I've always thought of myself as a tree

When I was young I needed sticks to help prop me up in the marsh land

As I aged i clung to peers and elder roots as to not be pulled away by the storms

Oh so many storms

My roots

Suddenly my roots are connected to roots that aren't thriving

They aren't striving

They're merely surviving

Barely

Stuck in the ground, my roots tangled

I need to trim my roots

Can I clip that root or that root or that root?

My roots tangled in a yarn ball no cat could unravel

My tree stays stunted for many years.

I lie to most about my roots spreading deep

My canopy receives minute sunlight, inconsistent to say the least

Whatever nourishment I had was fleeting

Like any tree that is forced to grow in the dark

My languishing permeated

One day, when the storm got too thick, I choose to cut through my tangled roots

Find the frail parts that were holding me back

Now the storms aren't as bad

The seasons are definitely shorter

So much more sunlight

Birds have nested

Pollination is happening

We are definitely allowed to kill part of ourselves.
