A poem of independence

A simple grain of sand sits upon the shore.

Her life is rather dull, an extreme bore.

She prays for the day when the wind shall blow her away,

But she's trapped by the seashell.

She shall never set sail.

A simple grain of sand sits upon the beach.

She wants to be in the ocean, but the waves cannot reach.

She prays for the day when she'll be part of the ocean,

Her love for freedom is a powerful emotion,

But she's trapped under a seashell.

She shall never set sail.

Then one day a fellow came and plucked that shell away

And that simple grain of sand finally saw the light of day.

Of course she wasn't shielded from the tropical rain,

But lessons she did learn from her pain.

She longer needed the shelter of the protective shell.

Now she was free; she could finally set sail.
