Where the ocean ends, in a deep blue void
A shark swims alone
Finally free from the currents,
which had swept him away from his one true love
His strength was nearly depleted
Razor sharp teeth sheathed, tail still and quiet
He moves slowly, further away, further, and further
He had his chance to say goodbye
Had managed to turn
Had looked right into her soft brown eyes from across a great distance
Opened his massive jaws to speak
But nothing had come out, for he had nothing to say, he did not know what to say, or how to say it
She had seen his sadness and felt his love
Had looked at the shark and whispered, it's ok, it's alright. It will be ok
And the shark thought she had spoken the truth
But now uncertainty haunts him,
like the shadow of a fisherman with hooked barbs
Anger and loss and pain suck at him,
like the many lamprey eels fixed to his sleek body
Suddenly the sea expresses its power
And the current takes him again,
and pulls him away
Even further and further away
Eventually, again he is released, and swims alone
Alone again, from now until his end
Where the ocean ends, in the deep blue void
