A Secret Soul

Born from love and hope

By John WelfordPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

An island surrounded by a lake

There you will find

A secret soul.

*

You stand alone on the shore

And watch the lake and the island

As if they were one and the same.

Without a word you go into the water.

*

The lake, it is cold, but you are strong.

You swim and swim until you feel

A lightness, a buoyancy

That carries you to the island.

*

That is where you live

For three months and a day

Feeding on love and hope.

*

On the island is another lake

And in the lake, another island.

You swim to it, but it turns into the lake

You started from.

*

You emerge from the lake

With a secret soul

And a story only you can tell.
