I should have listened when they told me to wait

I fell for the lines and those soft, gentle kisses
Missed the red flags, disguising the hate
They say there is plenty of sea for the fishes

Like cinderella, scrubbing the dishes
Ignorant, stepping into my fate
Lost, trying to be found in a sea full of wishes

My mind drifting off, to my dreams, in the distance
The future I see, is sure looking great

A Dart at Dusk
Seconds ago, the sullen sun set on the two of usโฆ my exuberant furry companion and me. A fresh breeze embraces us, delivering welcome relief from the dayโs oppressive heat. His typical stumbling and staggering along โ apace with a sloth โ has turned into trip-trapping, high-stepping, almost skipping along.

Your villanelle is so deep. The lines that hit me the most were "Like cinderella, scrubbing the dishes / Ignorant, stepping into my fate" Oh boy did I know that feeling.
