Beneath the winter sky so grey,

A girl stands all alone.

The wind blows cold and harsh today,

Her heart as chilled as stone.

She wraps her coat around her tight,

But still the chill seeps in.

She longs for warmth and firelight,

But finds no solace in.

The snow falls softly to the ground,

But she feels nothing but pain.

Memories of love that once she found,

Now lost and gone in vain.

She looks up to the sky above,

And whispers out a prayer.

To find the strength to carry on,

To mend her broken heart with care.

But for now, she stands alone,

Beneath the winter sky.

Holding back the tears that moan,

As she watches the world go by.
