How beautiful to see a child

Caught in imagination

Tame thoughts give way to all things wild

And create a grand sensation

Whirling around an empty room

Filling up the hollow spaces

Riding a horse made from a broom

And winning all the races

Splashing feet in a backyard pond

Dancing with the fishes

Turning a stick into a wand

For granting many wishes

Flying big birds upon the wall

The shadow of tiny hands

Crouching down and trying to crawl

A giant turtle in the sand

Hiding behind a blanket hill

Where no one else can find you

Staying low and keeping still

A curtain wall behind you

Making a fortress from a box

Defending it with power

Creating a flag from a pair of socks

To hang upon the tower

A spoon against a frying pan

The booming sound of thunder

High stepping with a marching band

Mouthing tunes filled up with wonder

We must uncover life’s complexity

So, we can see far beyond measure

Such a depth of simplicity

In creating childhood pleasure

The hopeful eyes and glistening smiles

That live “happily ever after”

If we linger just little while

Would blossom into laughter

Making something out of nothingness

A talent so innate

From musings, thoughts and “wonderness”

They would joyfully create…

…Delight sublime – a rare find

Sweet purity beyond measure

A world of joy built from the mind

Ah, indeed a special treasure!
