Why do we remember?

Why do we care?

Why is it the poopy that we wear?

Why do we all, big and small

Have all these these services and parades at all?

Do we remember because it's all we knew?

Or because this is what we really want to do.

We remember because they fought our fight

So that we can easier sleep at night

The freedoms that we have today-

Things were not always this way.

Many people lost a loved one

Some a husband, some a son

As well as we remember those who died,

We remember those they left behind

And those who lived and came back again.

The largest reason we remember, and listen close,

Is to show our deepest gratitude to those

Who gave their all and even more

For our freedom, and so we can now live in harmony.

So as we look around at all we have

May we never forget the price that was paid

May we never forget

Why we remember.
