A Poet's Self Portrait
Prompt response: Precious metals, Poets, and Man's best friend
If that inspirational feeling exists
hanging in the fresh morning air
the spark will catch spontaneously
igniting a cloud
manifestly transparent
Infiltrated with trace elements
precious metals
swirling in the atmosphere
surrounding us all
yet, seemingly available
to a select chosen few
a palette of poignant paints
poets, weavers of alchemy
tellers of tales
interspersed amongst the masses
seeking out scenes of
striking splendor
indelible pain
and absolute authenticity
man’s best friend
until the light it sheds
falls upon their truest self
most deigning or instinctively
shy away
yet, enough people crave a look
at a heart transformed to gold
alchemizing fluid administered
with a feather-tipped quill
the formula tattooed
on the right ventricle
the alchemist’s art on display
a self-portrait of a poet
a lyrical portrayal

On an unrelated note, my family is currently facing a serious crisis. I will likely be on and publishing less, as well as replying to and making comments less. I have no clue as to when or if this will be cleared up. I can only pray. I feel like I am floating through a nightmare, one that gets worse and worse. I love you guys, please take care in the meantime.
