A perfect world
satire or not. The games are already done.
All the men and women are holding hands.
They sing and dance in the green meadows.
All the girls are pretty in every land.
And boys fall asleep on rainbows.
The chirping of birds forms a melody in the air.
Bees gather in a ballet of flowers.
Silver fish swim in the river.
And ladybirds alight on golden hair.
But in this perfect world, hope remains.
We pray together that it will be true.
Because we don't want to see the truth.
We prefer to stay here, illuminated by the rain.
Hope costs nothing and fills our pockets.
After all, it's the only thing that matters.
The bombs we sell and condemn, in a word.
Welcome, my God, to a perfect world.

love this line, so poetic: And boys fall asleep on rainbows...
