gliding across an empty abyss
like socks on the oak wood floors
I’ll find my way someday
but I wonder how far offshore
I couldn’t stop or turn away
even if I tried
because as far as I throw my sight
only fear is returned for eyes
and as the frigid wind turns
my hands and feet to stone
I search for light in hope that I
can find my way back home
the darkness doesn’t frighten me
the way it did before
I used to be scared of what I couldn’t see
as if it was hiding more
so I lay down on this frigid plain
and let my body rest
as I slide furthermore to the emptiness
of the cold and dark abyss
