A Mother's Pride

knowing her daughter is a strong woman

How She Knew!

As the two of them sat on the porch chatting from the heart,

The daughter disclosed her recent life transitions and standing

To a mother who herself, had walked through them in life, as well.

At the age that required both body and soul to be pulled unfairly

From one generation above to another below her, the younger felt so torn.

Both needed her presence. One with ailing health, the other pregnant

With a first child, afraid and lonely, in need of her mother's wisdom.

And to top it off, she faced personal challenges within her own marriage.

The daughter seemed to be the caretaker of them all and had little left for

Herself... Her future fraught with uncertainty and inevitable, hard changes.

With resolve, she sat up boldly in her lawn chair and spoke directly to the

Universe and all willing to listen: "It may be ratchet, but I love my life!"

It was at that moment that her own mother knew that her daughter was

Going to make it through this stormy season. Her heart swelled with pride.

Before her was one strong, determined, and pure hearted, strong woman!
