A Morrissey of Matter

A Poem

By Steph GilliardPublished 4 years ago 1 min read
Drawing of Morrissey by Steph Gilliard

Standing on the edge of greatness

No more work for idle hands

Not even a dance for the ones whose youth is showing

And it's alright for it to be

On the wall a man

Split, bound, looking upon us

The radiant sun of face

A black back holds back

The dark, messy mass

Takes the beating

Whilst in this limbo, yet,

No revenge on the edge of greatness

Though all is wrong

He is beautiful

And still fond of you

Pushing relentlessly

For the favored thing

The very best scene

Shove just a little bit more

Oh

And the wailing on the wall

About the Creator

Steph Gilliard

The words I pen and the music I create, are the only places I feel truly connected in this world, and they save my life every single day. They are real, raw, unforgiving, and all me. This is how I deal with the world around me.
