Laying in the grass, the blinding light of the sun makes me feel at home. The green blades prod softly against my skin and support my body hovering just above the cold dirt. Warmth that is almost indescribable engulfs me, peace and comfort overwhelm me as my skin grows warmer and warmer. Through my closed eyelids I can see only the beautiful red and yellow of the sun’s rays. Slowly shifting and turning in the grass, I find myself sprawled out thinking about how much I missed the sensation of summer. I lift one of my arms above my head to stretch and let it drift up the side of my stomach, causing goosebumps to appear. My skin feels as if it could start on fire if I let it. Caressing my other arm gently, I feel like I am made of gold. Eventually I let my arm fall down onto the ground, cold to the touch.

Serenity in a world of discomfort and unrest. The sun feeds my body and makes me feel awakened. The feeling of the earth alive beneath me, connected, grounded. The heaviness of the day seems to melt into the ground below as I roll over to my stomach, letting the scorching sun grace my back. Slowly, I open my eyes and stare across the grass to see a never ending sea of green. With a deep exhale, I let my eyes close once again. I feel my hair becoming hot in the sunlight, absorbing all the radiant heat. The warmth I feel is calming and makes my skin feel smooth and young. I look up and only see the bright, white beauty of the sun and the delicate cool blue of the sky above.

What a magical feeling the sun brings me, like the light of the gods themselves it provides healing and rest. I draw my legs above me, stretching them high enough to greet the sun, toes pointed. Through the silence, I can almost hear the soft hum of the world around me, pulling me back to reality. I lower my legs back to the ground and let my feet explore and plant themselves into the grass. I inhale deeply and open my eyes to see a blue expanse above, only interrupted by the blazing light of the sun. I press my palms into the grass and lift my now incandescent body off of the ground and walk across the grass. I feel as if I am a new person, ethereal and strong. Treading softly across the expanse of grass, I make my way home, re-birthed by a moment in the sun.
