Sharpen that blade, hone it to original design

I saw you envelop a new glow on that crying, rusted old metal, and it made my heart singe into a piecemeal that found its way into a singular, full tang

A perfect weight and balance to my heart’s sword. Each step of the process you sent me to new heights, with care and precision and precise direction,

You

Forged something new out of my heart

I saw you with your Jennies,

Walking by in that red blouse

Time seemed to slow down like a twanging metal line, each contact with the vibration made me feel like I was in a new universe

And I caught a glimpse of your sandy hair

And dark, shy eyes,

I heard your friends call out your name,

A wolfish man and a light blue-eyed blonde lady,

Irwin!

“Samuel Irwin Miner!”

And it’s fate, I’m sure, that name felt like I’ve known it all my life, known you,

And that’s why I’ve always felt so lonely around large crowds.

My heart sang out more brilliantly than the finest hot steel as I hammer it with

Love,

How could I be so naive?

Seeing you was a treat,

But I am a greasy, too-tall

Gruff grizzly type of man,

I’d like to think that smile and laugh

So sweet and soft,

Was all for me,

But Irwin, where can I lead you?

Where can I find with our song of metals longing to be entwined?

I hope you stay here,

Samuel Irwin Miner,

Long enough to steal my heart

And take me away in your arms.
