A Meteor's Dream

Based on a real dream

By DrewPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

From the shores of eternity I travel,

To cut my shallow swath across.

Whose tight-wound souls do I unravel?

To wear the laden albatross.

Hark! A young man down below;

His blue eyes wide with yearning,

A cherub tauts his bantam bow,

As I commence to burning.

A sign searched for in the sky,

The arrow hit its mark.

And thought I also caught her eye,

’Twas a missed shot in the dark.

Though they were the only two,

To witness my demise,

The moonlight struck her differently,

In the young man’s eyes.

A pain reared up within him,

Understanding their true fate.

With shattered hearts and faces grim,

His love arrived too late.

Maybe in another life,

I’ll cross their paths again.

And he will take her for his wife,

When love shan’t be in vain.
