A Lovers' Quarrel

When light and darkness disagree

What do we do when

the shadow disappears

even if a second then

it feels like years.

Waiting, counting to ten,

holding in our fears

until the sun moves again.

The shadow reappears

and we breathe only then,

suddenly caring about what perseveres.

Light and darkness dance again

one moving the other without fears,

eager to dance in front of wistful eyes then

while swearing their next quarrel won’t be for years.
