A Love Undeserved and Undermined

My love always had something to prove

I was never good enough for myself

How could I be good enough for anyone else

Especially the ones who hold me accountable for my own existence

Even still this is not the stuff of books

Of dramas of novels of Hallmark movies

I might be the main character

I might be the author

I might be the anti-hero

But the plot is forced

Contrived

I am writing the events and my character

Just as much as they are happening to me

My love survived many tests and ultimatums

This is not Romeo and Juliet

I haven’t met my tragic end yet.
