It happened too fast
A meeting unplanned, much too soon
No one was ready, we were aghast
As soon as he arrived, just before noon
Gone like that, in a flash
I missed the chance to see him
His handlers swept him away, and in a dash
Leaving me confused, scared, and dim
For his life was in danger
On the edge of the abyss
And in the hands of a stranger
It was hard to dismiss
Our meeting postponed, it wasn't quite right
Now captive in a safe space
Guarded by day, and by night
Under bright lights, a constant race
Of beeping alarms sounding off
Never forget that death is to fear
Blindfolded and silenced , not even a cough
Knowing my scent, he sensed I was near
And hearing my voice , it seemed
He knew it would be alright
Although we just met , but not like I've dreamed
For this is a love like no other, always at first sight
No matter how dire , never give up hope
Even though I could not touch him
A fire that burns deep inside
to hold him, to comfort him,
And yearns to never subside
I would have to wait
He was born too soon
Always will wonder, what is this fate?
