A Little Slice of Heaven/Hell

To Be Human

By Jane NorthwoodPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

There’s a little devil and

a little angel in us all baby

But that’s not for us to know

To be human is to be

Both a sinner

And a saint.

But love?

You’re different.....

Let me explain.

See, I never knew

I liked yellow eyes

Until an angel fell in my demon lap

And you thought

‘Cause you had fallen

You were despicable

But darlin?

You didn’t fall

‘Cause you were bad

You floated down

For a purpose...

To save me

And suddenly life

was no longer loneliness

It was...heh... life was you.

You damn angel...

Life is narrow couches

And waking up in your arms now

It’s truck rides

And goofy smiles

And gentle pranks

It’s beautiful laughter

Singing off key in the car

Your hand in my hair

And I’m learning

Learning to trust again

Learning that not everyone just wants

.......

something from you

And you tell me

You’ve never been this open

And that you’d be lost without me

But sweetheart?

When you float back to heaven

And leave me here in the hell I’ve created?

I’m screwed honey

You’ve spoiled me......

I didn’t know someone could look at a devil

And see an angel instead

heartbreak
