A Little Nugget

Of Love

By Colleen WaltersPublished 5 months ago Updated 5 months ago 1 min read

"Every life is worth saving."

I've never forgotten those words by Doc Thomas, an old veterinarian still working well into his 80's. There was no gray area there for him, if it could be saved, he was going to save it. Period.

So when we discovered a wee mouse in a house, we decided to go to my house to get a live trap to catch it. Long story short, we set up the live trap (an employee brought us some chicken nuggets) and we caught the terrified but hungry and desperate kitten at Wendy's around 3am.

Meet Nugget. "Nug" for short. He is such a cool cat. His new Mom is a 10 year old who he adores, He's now a budding YouTube video star, and lounges around in a doll onesie like a boss. We were in the right place at the right time, somewhere we wouldn't normally be, and saved a life. Who knows how many people he cried out to, or how long he was out there by himself, hiding in the bushes.

Every life is worth saving.

This is wondrous. I love it!!!! The first two paragraphs are so memorable. But then... the whole thing is. I have rescued so many stray and feral cats in my life. At one point, I have eleven in my little tiny house. I found two black cats outside one November. I fed them and picked one up and brought him inside. Still have him. His name is Midnight (Middy.) The female black cat wouldn't let me get close to her at all. I just kept feeding her. Finally, in January, after two months, she let me pick her up and bring her inside. Almost immediately Midnight got Shadow pregnant, who then had a litter in a closet. Shadow is gone. So are the other kitties from that litter... except Daisy, who looks a like your Nug... only fatter. Blessings to both You and Yours. ⚡💙 Bill⚡
