A Little Boys Prayer

Trucking poetry

By K.C. KeatsPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Sitting on a hillside a young boy watches the trucks drive by,

Day after day he sits there watching. But why?

His daddy drives an eighteen wheeler and has been gone for many days,

And each night before bed a special prayer he says,

Please watch over my dad for he is on the road,

Trying to get to his destination with his big loads,

He drives day and night through rain and snow,

And you will guide him there safely, for this I know,

So please watch over my daddy on that lonely road,

So he can come back to mommy and me at home,

Day after day he sits on the hillside waiting for his dad to top the hill,

Then one day he sees an eighteen wheeler in the distance pass by the old mill,

He jumped to his feet and towards his home he ran,

For his prayer was answered and daddy was home again,
