A lantern in the dark

Lost innocence

A lantern in the dark

Lightened by the flame

Glowing like a heart

That has never felt the pain

It sits all alone

end of a beaten path

Through the gnarly trees

Leaves dance in gleaming bath

Striving I move on

Reaching for the glow

Finding the way home

Step by step I strive

I don’t feel alive

Reaching for the past

Where my light will last

Thunder and the rain

Flicker of the fire

My legs start to tire

On and on I go

Thirsting for the glow

Yearning for that warmth

That I lost before

The lantern in the dark

That was once my heart
