A joy to hold

How can any man or boy resist the charms of the humble pocket knife?

A joy to hold for young and old,

And never to be toyed with.

For all my life a pocket knife

Is something I have lived with.

A blade to peel your apple treat,

And slice it to perfection.

For gutting fish or foul or meat,

And vegies, on reflection.

To top a bottle or a can

You only need your pen knife.

Oh, how could any boy or man

Without one live his best life?

To sew a sail, extract a nail,

Or saw a piece of drift wood

Pop out a cork, screw in a screw

A gadget’s there for your good .

You see this ode is quite correct.

The pocket knife’s resounding

Utility, facility,

Is really quite astounding.
