A Journey to the Stars
Submission to the ABC challenge
Alone, with people in the room
Breathing, nothing in the world but breath and body
Crying, in those soft in between moments, I can't do it!
Darling, you are doing it!
Every wave bringing you closer
Forgetting what you're doing it all for
Groaning, grunting, gasping
Hands squeezed tight
Intimacy preserved
Journeying to the stars while
Kneeling on cushions
Labyrinthine pains, lost in a
Maze of
Neverending fatigue
Oh, I just want to sleep, please
Punctuated by pain, pressure and I need to poo! I need to push!
Quiet moments followed by
Roaring down the little
Soul, so close now
Touch that fuzzy little head
Unbelievable, indescribable moment, giving you the
Vigour you need for this last push into
Waiting hands
Xmas has come, all of them at once
Yes! in a gush of blood and relief and joy
Zwischen has ended; the dyad has arrived
________________________
a/n - the "dyad" refers to the motherbaby; as a single entity as they are at the point of birth, and for some time after.
Zwischen is a German word meaning "between", this refers to the limbo women often find themselves in, during those seemingly neverending days at the end of pregnancy while they wait for their baby to arrive.

love your poem
Fabulous - this who have birthed are doing it again, in synch with your poem!
Oh Wow, Sam! This is beautiful, evocative, stirring and just straight-up clever. One of my favourite lines, of many, "Labyrinthine pains, lost in a Maze of Neverending fatigue" Also, the line about needing to poo...so many memories lol! Awesome entry, seriously!
