Dear Liona,
I know this must seem like a dream, receiving a letter from me
But I can tell you that this is all real- you're happy as can be.
It's been a long time since we were together,
and honestly, I think it's because of the weather;
I've tried to ride the train to you,
but the sky just hasn't been blue.
The more I think, the more I understand,
that as we stood on the shore, hand-in-hand,
only the kindest captain in the world
could've stopped by and saved us from the whirl
of setting ourselves apart.
I know it has been too long already,
and I have been trying to keep myself steady.
This town, as big and lovely as it is,
could never compare to us as kids
together forever by that shore,
together forever and only more.
But now I realize, as the engine starts up,
that maybe it's best if I stay out of your cup-
just a few days longer, is that alright?
If not I might have to stay the night.
Never mind, Liona, it was only a jest,
and now I will try my absolute best
to get back to you, my childish friend,
before this letter even ends.
By the time you're done reading (I hope, at least)
I'll be there at the station (if the rain has ceased)
waiting for you with open arms,
waiting for you without any harm.
I write from Somewhere Else,
a place full of dreams and color,
and- oh, I've forgotten, you like to rhyme.
And now I have wasted both of our time.
I apologize for messing up the words,
and easily now, I have concurred
that now is where my journey must end,
right where the train tracks start to bend.
Good luck, my wondrous friend!
I will stay one more night and then this will end!
Sincerely, your giggly friend,
Faris.
