A heart so Broken

A heart so broken, shattered into shards,

The aftermath pain, the unforgiving cards,

Dealt by life, with a merciless hand,

Leaves one with brokenness and loneliness so grand.

The tears that fall like raindrops on a windowpane,

Can never heal the wound that causes so much pain,

A heart once so full, now feels so hollow,

Aching with the memory of love it cannot follow.

The promises made, now shattered into dust,

Leaves the heart feeling betrayed and mistrust,

The dreams that once held so much hope,

Now lie shattered, scattered on the floor, like a slippery slope.

The loneliness that creeps in like a thief,

Steals the joy, and brings only grief,

The empty bed, the silent room,

Echoes the pain of love's impending doom.

The mind races, searching for answers,

Why did love have to end in such disasters,

The heart yearns for the love once shared,

The broken heart may mend, in time,

And love once again may start to shine.

For life may deal a merciless hand,

But the heart may learn to withstand,

The pain, the brokenness, and the loneliness too,

And find a way to love again, anew.

For it's only through the darkness that light may shine,

And a heart so broken may once again be just fine.
