A Heart Lost in Longing
A Poignant Ghazal by Ibn Yamin Faryumadi

Ibn Yamin Faryumadi, a 14th-century Persian poet, is known for his deeply emotional and reflective poetry. His verses often explore themes of love, longing, and the helplessness of a heart trapped in sorrow. In this ghazal, the poet speaks of a heart that has become accustomed to pain, a soul crying out in the agony of separation, and a love so consuming that even relief feels like betrayal. Through delicate metaphors, he captures the struggle of a lover who continues to wander in search of an unattainable union.
🌿 A heart accustomed to your sorrow shall never know joy,
And if fate leads it to you, may it never enjoy.
💫 The torment of your absence leaves me in despair,
If I ever find peace, let no cry fill the air.
✨ Like a shadow, I follow wherever you go,
Without you, may no wind through my heart ever blow.
🌙 If for love of you, I must sell my soul,
What use is it, when my heart remains unwhole?
