A Guide To Sleep

The next day

Overwhelmed and tired, but still I type away,

Eyes wide open, waiting for the sun’s first ray,

But sleep will only slip further away.

My world is asleep so I quietly pray—

“May God step in now, help me rest, guide my way.”

Phone is down and eyelids grounded,

So I go and rest in peaceful places,

And I’m in the world that love embraces.

I awake and rise, and the morning is kind,

Another prayer to speak—

“May God walk with me now, help me act, guide my way.”

With peace in my heart, I will go about my day,

Until the next prayer shaped by the day.
