A Goodbye Wrapped in Love

Holding on to the Moments Before You Go

Stay, Mama, just a little while more,

Let me hold your hand like I did before.

Do you remember the bedtime songs,

The way you’d hum when days felt long?

Your laughter still dances in my mind,

Soft as a whisper, gentle, kind.

You showed me how the stars align,

How love remains beyond all time.

I trace the stories on your skin,

Each wrinkle holds where we have been.

The morning hugs, the kitchen chats,

The silly fights, the bedtime pats.

You said, "Love, it never dies,"

But Mama, why do I see it in your eyes?

A fading light, a quiet sigh,

And still, I beg, "Not yet, not goodbye."

You hold my face, wipe my tears,

Whisper, "Darling, I'm always near."

I close my eyes and breathe you in,

As if that will keep you here within.

The world will spin, the sun will rise,

But I'll search for you in the skies.

In every breeze, in every song,

In all the places we belong.

So if you must go, go with ease,

But send me love upon the breeze.

And when the night is calm and true,

I'll find my way back home to you.
