A Glimpse of Miles

Remembering Grace in a Stolen Moment

By The Learning LedgerPublished 8 months ago 1 min read
Jazz musician silhouette

New York feels a little emptier
without him around.

Looking at this photo–Miles,
his squint like worn leather,
his fingers holding grace
like something fragile and rare–

it reminds you of something
you just don’t see anymore.

And the rest of us–
we're left wondering:
Who was driving that truck?

And all we can do is sigh:
Death sure knows
how to steal
the best stuff
when your'e not looking.

This description of Miles really paints a vivid picture. It makes you feel the emptiness in New York without him. The comparison of his squint to worn leather and his fingers holding grace is quite unique. It makes me wonder about the mystery of the truck driver too. It's a powerful reminder that death can be so sudden and take away those we hold dear. How do you think the story will unfold from here? What more do you think we'll learn about Miles and that fateful day?
