Maidens of the open ocean

Lounging by the seaside, on holiday

Just over the border of their usual domain

Dripping with silver

Swirling nectar in clamshells

Sipping and gulping and inhaling the vapors

Savoring the taste, the feeling on their tongues

The richness of the shell and the smoothness of the wine.

Their heads roll back

Faces toward the heavens

Brushing the beach with the ends of their hair

Curving their chests upwards

Arching their necks

Rolling their shoulders

Wriggling their fingers in the sand

Warm, soft tails drinking in sunshine

Basking in the feeling of being young

Young forever.
