A Four Day Weekend

Is That Enough Time When Leaving The State

Long weekend funday

leaving early morning on Friday

and returning late on Monday.

Two travel days with an escort

really more as we are leaving Thursday

night to be closer to the airport.

We will see the redwoods

those huge trees

and other goods

like the ocean breeze

nothing to make you sneeze.

Everyone masked up

without exceptions

I suppose I didn't need makeup

but it made me ask questions

and you don't need a mask to eat and drink.

it made me rethink.

It is nice to have escorts, young strong

men, the grands, it can't go wrong

they are carrying my suitcase

I have trouble keeping their pace

I sit in the wood

while they run ahead

and I am good

with that, as in my head

it says take more time

while here and finish this rhyme.

I am sitting by a clear, clean

stream, beautiful to see and hear.

Red woods are really lean

as they say on the walk, they are near

thin due to the bark being 3 feet thick

it can't be that for each stick.

It is good to visit

I know I can talk to anyone and it

doesn't mean it's time to come

all out and confess to a lot of writing

I do much sitting at home

and on this trip I still did too much sitting.

We are returning to a winter wonderland

my daughter said, "We can stay in this land,

I can get a job and support us here."

She is an RN, and could make better

here than there

Muir wood was great!

Food was the best of late

with two growing teens

food was always the subject and

buying taller jeans.

Then there was no place to park

dinner was well after dark.

We were in Sausalito for breakfast

In-N-Out Burger after a fast

then Chinese takeout that was the best.

The Golden Gate and Bay Bridge would dwarf

our bridges at home, we had fun at the ocean and Fisherman's Wharf.

And there is target to stock up

water, sprite, snacks and a few cup.

I wasn't sure I would get any writing in

until they were going for a longer spin

on the wharf, and they thought they

would walk. I had time to write and hey

I had much more to say than I thought I would

Writing has become my favorite and I

would write full time if I could!

The hills here are unreal

straight up and straight down for real!

Did I mention no parking?

Many, many dogs but no barking!

Red Notice, the movie we wanted to

see but our directions were bad

and we were in the Tenderloin sad

supposedly the worst place to be at night,

unless you are looking to make a deal said the boys dad.

I don't know how I got into that spot

and I know I am not interested in the pot

even though it may be legal there

it is not over here

and I will be there late tomorrow where

I will be home and I have pictures to share.

Teens will be teens and one was trying to glare

at someone from our balcony of sorts until they glared back

and he was right back in the room, wondering where he could hide

and then quickly looking for a snack

Even though we weren't anxious to come back to the cold and snow

We were anxious to get home to our hubbies and we don't have to mow

I love Minnesota and really never want to live anywhere else and I think

a four day weekend in wine country was just about right when I am someone who doesn't drink!
