A Father’s Plea

If one day you ever have a change of heart

By Uncledee'Published about a year ago 2 min read

If one day you ever have a change of heart, that you don't love my daughter anymore, please don't hurt her, just bring her back to me so she can still be her - the only person she was before you.

I remember the way she used to laugh, a sound that carried the sun's warmth, lighting up even the darkest corners of our little home. She was whole, untouched by the weight of love's complications, untouched by the shadows that now linger behind her eyes.

She gave you everything, pieces of herself that were never meant to be broken. She wore her heart like a shield, thinking it would protect her, but it only made her more vulnerable. I see the cracks now, the tiny fractures that she tries so hard to hide, even from herself.

If you must leave, do it with the gentleness you once promised her. Do it quietly, without the sharp edges of harsh words or the silence that cuts deeper than any sound. Leave behind the memories of your shared moments, but return to me the essence of who she was - my daughter, my little girl who once danced in the rain, unafraid of getting wet.

Let her walk away from the love that has worn her down, but leave her with the strength to rebuild. For she deserves to be whole again, to find herself in the echoes of her own laughter, in the spaces between her heartbeats that once only knew joy.

If one day you ever have a change of heart, know that you are taking with you a part of her she can never get back. But leave her with enough of herself to find her way home. Bring her back to me, not as the girl you molded to fit your world, but as the woman she was always meant to be - unbroken, unafraid, and unashamed of the love she gave, even if it was never fully returned in the same way.

She deserves to heal, to smile without shadows in her eyes. And I'll be here, waiting to help her remember the girl she used to be and discover the woman she can become. If you ever have a change of heart.

This stirred my parent heart to the raw core. I always wanted someone to care for me like the father depicted in this emotionally charged piece.
