A Farewell

1/12/12

Not expected, but should’ve been,

Lookie there, a judge word.

Learned many things, unlearned others.

Taught some too,

For that’s what I’m to do.

They say,

‘Those who can, do, and

Those who can’t teach’

But what of those of whom

Teaching is what they can do

It often makes a paradox

Of itself, this life we lead, but then again

Do we really lead these lives of ours?

I say

‘It may not hurt,

But will it help?’

Any question you ask yourself,

You already have the answer to.

Yes, that does mean,

You know everything.

Everything you need to know, that is.

Everything worthwhile to you

Is what you will have.

It isn’t meant to be

More than you or me

But some make it so

It’s not having what you want

It’s not wanting what you got.

It’s knowing what you have

Before it’s gone

And loving it.

A farewell, we have today.

A farewell, then someday

We may see each other again.

This isn’t a dry goodbye,

Rather, emotional.

But, I beseech thee, do not cry with me.

For you’ll have your own tears to shed one day.

You’ll have your own farewell.
