A Dreamers Second Chance

Miss you much ❤️

By Tressa RosePublished 9 months ago 1 min read

I had a dream of you both
one I've had a million times
where you come to visit me
and somehow I fail you.

We were at a hotel
with my mother,
your grandmother
the one who failed me too.

An Italian cream soda
place stood outside
you wanted to go
I wanted to try.

I said I had to check
on grandma first
I knew she had vodka
And I wanted a sip.

And in my dream
she got a phone call
she said my name
and I was on alert.

It didn't sound good
but before the calls end
I woke up in bed
And felt really hurt.

Hurt cause I knew
even in dreams
I couldn't get it right
So I asked for a chance…

***
I fell back into the dream
my mother not present
we went to the shop
and met an angel I swear.

Her prices were steep
for all of her food
she said her mom was ill
that's why she was there.

She was raising money
for the cost of bills
but even with that
she could see how I feel.

Next thing I know
she's packing us lunch
she said don't worry
about the cost

I looked in wonder
then opened my eyes
for in that moment
I no longer felt lost

The first dream in years
with all three of us
where we were happy
I finally passed the test.
