A Door Held Wide

The Quiet Power of Kindness in Everyday Moments

By Shwet Prabha BaiswarPublished about a year ago 1 min read

From where I stood, a weight was cast,

The world seemed heavy, shadows vast.

My heart was tired, my spirits low,

And then you came, with a gentle glow.

A simple smile, a kind “Hello,”

The warmth you gave began to show.

You held the door with such sincere grace,

A gesture small, yet it embraced.

Your eyes met mine, no need for words,

In that brief moment, kindness stirred.

I felt the burden start to lift,

As if your care was a precious gift.

I saw you walk, your day unknown,

Yet in my heart, a seed had grown.

Your small act, a beacon bright,

Guided me from darkest night.

In crowded places, or quiet lanes,

We seldom see the kindness gained.

Yet here you were, a fleeting friend,

Whose empathy helped my heart to mend.

Your simple act, a door held wide,

Meant more than you could ever guide.

It gave me hope, a brief reprieve,

And taught me more than I could conceive.

So as you go about your day,

Remember this, in every way.

Small acts of kindness can ignite,

A spark of hope in someone’s night.
