A Depressed Man
Deep inside there has still to be some fight left

A Depressed Man
What kind of man will live today,
a replica of yesterday?
To stay in bed and smell like stale cheese,
to not walk, but slide around on his knees.
It’s not drink, or drugs, or laziness,
it’s depression that stops him from being his best.
I try in vain to make you speak.
You won’t. You seem to just want bleak.
And I have to admit, your future’s grim.
No magic pill to change your ways so dim.
no sudden lift from these darkest days.
Only you, deep inside,
can choose to want the better days.
You have to understand, you’ll get past this.
Your life is worth living. It’s still here, still now.
You have try to pull out of this,
you have to, somehow.
Today ok just sit and think tomorrow,
I am taking you to see a shrink.
I have to do it. I know you think I am cruel.
you must under stand this,
sometimes being cruel is me trying to be kind
Your A depressed man,
we have to change this dark mind.

Depression is hard to work through no matter who you are. One needs as much time as one needs. Good work on this one.
"Only you, deep inside, can choose to want the better days." Fighting depression is about realizing you are depressed first up and then having the willpower to do something to try and change it. A familiar pattern.
Once that dark mind is clear, he becomes unstoppable. Speaking from experience. Good work!
Well written Keep it up
Love your narrations. I would have taken him to nature shrink. :) Depression is hard to resolve though.
You've captured the feeling of depression so well here! I hope your depressed man gets the help me needs.
Captivating poem about a depressed man, well written, good luck.
