A Day before the Disaster
A day before on September 10th 2001
I went to an appointment at the
Downtown Vermont building
A hearing about compensation
Up the gliding elevator
Down hallways of offices
Where Uniformed men sat representing different orders such as, the VWF & Order of the Purple Heart
One, smoking a cigar ever so nonchalantly
I got a tour where file cabinets of Veterans were rolled revealing a panoramic window of the Washington Monument way up high
There I felt something, A feeling of doom
Mentioning it at the hearing, they asked if I could write it down
I sat at a manual typewriter & typed,
If I don’t get control of my check
Something terrible might happen
My typed words were notarized
The following day everything changed
The Vermont building was no more
With my ironically predicted words turning to ash along with the Smoke & Flame
