A dance with the moon

A poem of choice

Raindrops create slick black pavement
Under tall leather heels, clicking and clacking
Puddles splash up onto her striped tights
Her lace layered dress safe under umbrella

She cares not in the slightest that it pours rain
For she is on a most important journey
To a place she's never before dared travel
Moon place, where there's no turning back

In the darkness you start to question yourself
You know it's where you want to go
Yet you tell yourself you don't deserve it
But the moon's light illuminates the path

Where your past in no longer your shame
And self-love is what you instead claim
Shadow and light embrace in eternal dance
And the old you is shed and given new life
