A winter ago

The war that had started

In summer, so tragic

Snowballed into storms

Precipitation in flux

Little hope in the distance

Divided for long

Too many factions

For me to imagine

While it settled somewhat

Felt no end in sight

That would stick, stop the fights

But one late snowy day

A force came so sudden

From the last place I thought of

A man of sick deeds

And a partner in crime

Left them all terrorized

Though their earlier sins

Weren’t enough

To unite what was broken

Their felonies grew

Wrecked people from

Many backgrounds and classes

The battlers were tired

They couldn’t let grudges

Blind them to what was done

So united they were

Even if for a moment

Bad blood redirected

Regardless of how

Long it all lasts

Part of me is still glad

That a truce has been placed

No matter how temporary

Or with a reason so dreary

And though healing is far

Wouldn’t wish on anyone

What the lovers have caused

Change has occurred

Whether it stays or goes

Maybe it’ll melt

The snow.
