A child in foster care

A difficult journey of a child in foster care

By Mariyam AzizPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Childhood in foster care, a life less ordinary

Filled with uncertainty, not always merry

A child without parents, left to fend

Forced to grow up too fast, with no end

The system, a maze of endless rules

A plethora of emotions, like pawns in a game of fools

With every new home, comes a new face

A life of instability, like a never-ending chase

It's a world of survival, a battle to win

A daily hardship, where hope often wears thin

No comforting hugs, no warm embrace

No one to wipe the tears from their face

But in every darkness, there's always light

A friend, a carer, who makes things alright

With a listening ear, a gentle touch

They give the warmth of hope, that means so much

Through hardship, we learn to persevere

That even the toughest journey, we can steer

With strength and resilience, we continue to thrive

A child in foster care - a life we survive.
