A Case of Writer's Block

When your mind is so full of thoughts, it feels empty.

Winds push

and pull the ocean along

while humming

to the tune of a wordless song.

Chimes echo

a chorus of melodic tones—

drifting past

my ears from a place unknown.

Hairs tickle

my face, but I hardly care—

Mulling over

my day with a wandering stare,

I grasp

for inspired words in pools of thought

slipping away

before they can be caught.

They dart

like fish scattering out to sea

Leaving me

standing in a shattered memory

of what I could have written

if the ink had left my pen

if my mind were not so murky—

littered with unborn poetry.
