A Busy Summer

After the pandemic

Fun in the sun

a brown bun

that is one thing

I think about and sing

to my hearts content

about and lament

the things that are long gone

Let us let bygones be bygone

~

This full moon has me off a bit

it may be important to go sit

by the water, or walk in the trees

Smelling the flowers in the breeze

getting more sun, if you please

I know it isn't enough as my

ring finger is barely

showing a white stripe, big sigh

This is not true most years or rarely.

~

Time to smile and open my eyes

to the beauty of this time and

forget the lies

and stand

up for pies

strawberry rhubarb

and blueberry pie

that is what I

am missing this year

bringing me to tear

up! No sugar for this girl

it takes me for a whirl

Berries are okay for now

Better than nothing, I took a vow

to keep the sugar out

I've done it before, it has some clout

Then it's processed food elimination

in mind for another time, no discrimination.

~

It feels better to get it off my mind

by telling you what is behind

my full-moon dilemma

Help me, mama.

It has been a busy summer

some of it a bummer

We are halfway through

and who knew

I might get stuck in this mood

and it is probably about food.

~

I have enjoyed family and friends

gathering together and sends

of cards and money celebrating ends

of high school and college and the cycle

of pregnancy coming to an end

Camping and riding my motorcycle

celebrations and visits with a brother and friend

Nothing major going on

I still want to learn to write a song

Nothing stopping me but me.

Maybe

the end of summer can bring one

we will see!

I love this. In summer I tend to go off food, and the full moon warps my mind!

  • Hahahahahhaha my mood is always about food too! Loved your poem

This is quite the summer report kind of like from elementary school when we had to write a theme 'What did you do over summer vacation?' Really I think only one of my teachers actually did this kind of assignment.
