A Brand New Start.

A Clean Slate.

By Cathy (Christine Acheini) Ben-Ameh.Published 4 months ago 1 min read

You say “I’m sorry”

but my memory is a blank page,

the ink of the past has faded,

its words erased by time’s soft hand.

What is left is a quiet dawn

a space wide enough for two hearts

to walk in without baggage,

to meet not as strangers,

but as souls willing to learn.

So let us reintroduce ourselves:

your name, my name,

our laughter, our tears.

Not the versions we carried yesterday,

but the truth of today,

raw and unpolished.

We never truly knew each other

not in the marrow,

not in the secret corners.

This time, let us carve beauty

from the ordinary,

let us gather moments

that will stand unbroken.

No more shadows, no more weight,

only the grace of a clean slate.

Here, in this fragile, holy now,

we begin again

and the memories we build

will be the ones we keep.

It can be very hard to start fresh after hurt but this is a wonderful expression of just how freeing it can be to do just that. Very well written.
